It is widely used in cement factories and power plants.


Currently, the steel ball for ball mill used in the market has different manufacturing processes, which can be mainly divided into two types, one is casting and the other is forging. The degree of wear of the two is different. Considering that the material needs to be crushed, the steel balls need to have good wear resistance and should also have sufficient toughness. Usually alloy steel, high-manganese steel, cast iron plus ferrochrome and other materials are used and then formed by forging or casting.


After molding, the corresponding heat treatment process was used to further improve the performance of ball mill balls. According to different processes and materials, can be divided into: a. Forged steel ball, such as low-carbon alloy steel ball, medium carbon alloy steel ball, high manganese steel ball, rare earth chromium molybdenum alloy steel ball; b. cast steel ball, including Low-chromium cast ball, medium-chromium cast ball, high-chromium cast ball. Commonly used materials are low carbon alloys, high manganese steels, high chromium cast irons, and high carbon high manganese alloy steels.


It should be noted that in the process of production and processing, the tempering and heat treatment process of steel balls for ball mills is a key link. Normally, not only is the overall toughness required to reach 12 Joules/cm2 after heat treatment, but it also requires considerable plasticity and wear resistance. Because the casting process usually can only reach 3-5 joules, resulting in a higher breakage rate, even if the high chromium cast ball, so in the case of a large working condition strength, it is best to use forgings.


For a ball mill ball, its manufacturing process will directly affect its actual service life. Therefore, in the production of balls for ball mills, reasonable forging, casting and heat treatment processes must be established. In short, the development of a reasonable production process and strict quality inspection methods are the preconditions for ensuring the ball's performance.
