Requirements for the use and addition of steel balls for ball mills

- Sep 10, 2018 -

In actual work, the ball mill that has just been installed needs to be run-in for a period of time before use. In the case of running-in, the ball for ball mill is the first addition, accounting for 80% of the maximum ball load of the ball mill. Generally, the addition ratio of the steel ball for the ball mill can be increased in accordance with the size of the steel ball (Φ120 mm, Φ100 mm, Φ80 mm, Φ60 mm, Φ40 mm).

Many people are puzzled by the fact that the ball mill ball is only 80% added during the ball mill running-in process. The reason for this is mainly because after the ball mill is installed, the ball mill size gear needs to be meshed, and the processing volume is gradually increased. After two or three days of continuous operation of the ball mill, check the meshing of the large and small gears, and wait until everything is normal. Open the ball mill manhole cover and add the remaining 20% steel balls for the second time.

When the ball mill is in normal operation, the ball mill uses steel balls between each other, between the steel ball and the ore, and between the steel ball and the lining plate, the wear is increased due to the constant friction, so that the large and middle balls are ground. small ball. Therefore, under normal circumstances, there is no need to add a small ball. In the case of adding a small ball, there is no monomer dissociation at the useful mineral particle size, and when the fineness of the mill is not up to the flotation requirement, an appropriate amount of small balls can be added.
